Are you making the most of the unbelievably cheap advertising opportunities for your restaurant using the internet?
Did you know that in the last year there were AT LEAST 283,000 searches per MONTH in Adelaide for restaurants?
This is NOT for specific restaurants – this is using generic keywords such as “Adelaide Restaurants”, “French Restaurants Adelaide” “North Adelaide Restaurants”, etc… Most people are researching online before they choose a restaurant.
*Data is based on Google Keyword tool – using local monthly searches average for year ended May 2010
This is how people find restaurants today. Online.
Google the words “Adelaide Restaurants” – notice all the results? Now try putting your restaurant name into Google.
Did you notice all the free restaurant websites your restaurant is on? What about out-of- date information? Are you even on the listings? See any old menus or specials and cringe
knowing they're months, maybe years old?
How would you like your very own online marketing manager looking after it for you?

- Updating, enhancing and adding your restaurant to other busy restaurant directories online.

- Once your restaurant is on all these guides – you just send your updates to us ONCE and we'll make sure every website is updated at the same time - this includes menus|hours|newsletters|special events|wine lists|specials – this can save you hours every time you make a change.
Did you know if your menu is showing on the internet with outdated prices your diners can demand you honour them?
When diners find your old menus it's not only embarrassing but can cost you. That's the problem with free websites that have your menu, it's so hard to remember to update them all.
If you’ve already done a Google search you'll already know your restaurant is on heaps of other website guides already. You have to be careful you're not displaying old menus or specials, plus old phone numbers and email addresses or you could get fined!
Did you know that if you updated your menu, hours, specials etc – yourself, on every single guide you need to be listed on – it can take AT LEAST 2-3 hours per update?
Why should you care how your restaurant looks online?
Image is everything and something you just can't ignore if you want to compete successfully against your competition. Imagine you are a diner who has absolutely no idea of which restaurant you want to go to. What's going to make you choose one restaurant over another?
Our experience has shown diners will choose a restaurant with information they can trust. It comes down to the best looking restaurant – with lots of high quality professional photos, current menus showing, lots of customer comments, up to date opening hours and easy to use maps.
Did you know you can double your visitor stats on dining guides – just by keeping your information up to date?
Take back control of your restaurants reputation on other website guides
Most website guides you'll find are often funded by advertising dollars, in other words, they don't care too much about keeping your content up to date! For free, it's not bad, but don’t expect an accurate, convincing and trust building representation of your restaurant – well, not unless you have the time to keep it up to date yourself.
You'll also find your restaurant has been added by diners who know very little about you, and the responsibility is then left to you to keep your own information up to date! Unless you're searching the internet just about every day, how could you possibly keep on top of this?
Here’s how to do ALL your updates in the time it takes to send an email
Just email it to us at menus@eatout-adelaide.com.au. It will appear exactly as you send it to us, so if it needs a tidy up, best to get it looking good first! If you can send it as a pdf document, even better, however any format is fine so long as it is tidy.
We will action the updates within 24 hours of having received it (working day) and you can expect to see your information updated within 24 hours to 4 working days* of having sent it to us.

Frequently asked questions
I already have my own website – why do I need to be on guides?
Unless customers already know the name of your business – it is devilishly hard to get a single restaurant website to consistently rank on page one of Google for popular search terms. This is because of the sheer number of websites you are competing with in Adelaide for one, and also because dining guides and review sites have so much content on them, Google will always rank them higher.
In addition to this, people like to have a list or group of restaurants to choose from, this gives them options and choices.
What they want to see is a good quality list of restaurants, with the right information.
And finally, because you already are on guides – your customers, and free dining guides, have added you.
I have great word of mouth. Isn’t word of mouth marketing the best marketing you can get?
Word of mouth marketing is the best there is, no doubt about it. If your restaurant can’t offer good food and service, I’m afraid no amount of marketing can help in the long term! But we’re sure that’s not you! – However good word of mouth is, online word of mouth is absolutely viral! – When your customers leave you rave reviews on-line, the impact is huge, both on people they know, and people they don’t know.
I want to advertise online but I don’t know where to start and I’m too busy to worry about this.
We know you're busy and dedicated to serving excellent food and service to people, we understand that and want you to concentrate on what you do best. Let us at Eatout Adelaide worry about marketing your restaurant on the internet for you, it's what we love, and we're good at too!
It doesn’t take long to organise, we'll sit with you and talk you through it if that’s what you need, and it won’t take you longer than 15 minutes if you like, or up to an hour if you have a lot of questions! This consultation is free. Then we organise a photo shoot – taking around 1 hour to 1.5 hours, you fill in the forms, give us the menus, and 5 days later you will see your restaurant displayed beautifully on our site. It is that easy.
Do I really need to keep dining guides updated?
The restaurants that get the best results are those that are keeping their information up to date. Most guides have told us you can almost double your visitor stats just by making sure your information is up to date, accurate, and well presented. You will get the best results if you actively update guides.
I don’t use the internet much
Even if you're not on the internet much, the people who walk through your door will be – you need to be where they are.
What words do people type in when looking for restaurants?
People are usually searching on four key things
- Suburb - i.e. North Adelaide
- Food type – i.e. French, Chinese, Coffee Roaster etc
- Venue type – i.e. BYO, Waterfront, or Lunch etc
- Special events – Valentine’s Day, Mothers Day, Xmas etc
Dining guides will almost always outrank single restaurant websites on these terms.
Facebook, Twitter, do I REALLY need to worry about these things?
Hate to be so blunt, but yes, you do. Restaurants are social by nature, people actually like talking about you, whereas insurance, and banking, not so much! For most people the internet is the first stop they use when booking a restaurant, and often it’s not just Google they’re using, it’s their networks on Facebook, Twitter and the like. If you're not ready to take the huge step into social media by yourself, don’t worry! We're already very active in these channels, and are writing on behalf of our restaurants on Facebook and Twitter every day already.
If you're ready to launch yourself into the social stratosphere by yourself but still need a little help getting it all organised, ask about our Social Media consultancy services. We can help you establish a social media marketing plan, create a content management plan, teach you social media etiquette and show you how to use it.
I already have a marketing manager – why would I need Eatout?
If you already have a marketing manager that’s great! – Where Eatout can help is with time spent on updating. Your marketing manager can send one update to us, and we will update it on every guide – for no extra cost. If you are doing 4 updates in a month, these can take you at least 2 hours per update – so a total 8 hours wasted that could be better spent elsewhere. In addition to that, we have thoroughly researched each guide, and built relationships with the best – in order to take maximum advantage of opportunities on behalf of our restaurants.
I’m sick of bad reviews, I want to get rid of ALL these guides
We definitely sympathise – restaurants can at times be subject to unfair reviews and we know it can hurt! However, unless the comment breaches a guides terms and conditions, the website is very unlikely to remove the comment or the listing. In other words, like it or not, there may well be bad comments on some of these guides, about your restaurant. With that in mind, can you try seeing it a different way? - could you use these comments to your advantage – as valuable feedback and where possible, implement change? Could you turn the commentor into a fan by getting them back into your restaurant to try again? - or, could you respond tactfully on the guide, thus showing other diners who view the comment, that you do actually care?
Let us know if you need help responding to any constructive criticism – we’re pretty good at resolving these nicely!
